Japanese Educators Visit MERSD to Learn about Inclusive Special Education Practices

On Tuesday, September 20, a delegation of researchers and educators from Japan will spend the day at Manchester-Essex Regional School District observing classes and talking with teachers and administrators about inclusive educational practices.  The visiting group is led by Dr. Wakuta Manabu, professor and researcher at Osaka University.  Dr. Manabu is joined by Mr. Kazuki Tani, researcher and educator at Tamagawa University, Ms. Yuki Osuka, researcher and educator, and special education teachers Mr. Satoshi Aoyama, Mr. Takayuki Ono, and Ms. Midori Sakane.


The visiting educators and researchers will also visit Landmark School, which recommended MERSD as an ideal public school district to observe for special education programming and inclusive practices.  During the visit, the delegation will observe the District’s program for students with dyslexia, social and emotional learning program, and elementary inclusion classes.
