MERSD Progress Report

Over the past three years, the district office has been collecting data from its stakeholders to inform the revision of the district’s Strategic Plan. In the fall of this year MERSD completed and implemented its Strategic and District Improvement Plans.  The Strategic Plan consists of a district Mission, Vision and Core Values and forms the construct for the development of the district and school based Improvement Plans and, ultimately, the framework for the development of teacher goals and objectives.  The District Improvement Plan is based on the model of continual improvement. It is intended to be a living document that provides a district road map for growth and informs the development of school and educator plans.

At the May 28th School Committee meeting, the District Leadership Team provided a DIP progress report on the FY13 goals.  Please take a few minutes to review the Progress Report and supporting DIP Highlights Presentation.  With your help and through the collective and collaborative efforts of all the stakeholders, we are making solid progress toward reaching our goals and achieving our mission of Educating all students, instilling a passion for life-long learning, and encouraging both local and global citizenship!

Although the students are heading-off on vacation, MERSD remains a busy place throughout the summer.  Faculty will be engaging in professional development ranging from literacy and STEM training to curriculum development;  our summer teaching staff will continue to provide instructional and support services; our facilities and technical staff will be hard at work with annual maintenance and repairs to our buildings and grounds; and ,the leadership team will review the year’s progress and  prepare for the year ahead.

As you may know beginning July 1st, we will have a new leadership team in place at the Middle High School.  I know Ms. Puglisi (High School) and Mr. Guditus (Middle School) will impress you with their energy, intellect, professionalism, knowledge of curriculum and instruction, and experience.  Together they will bring to MEMHS a collaborative approach and proven track record in instructional leadership as well as a vision of excellence, child-centeredness and continual improvement.    Below you will find links to their entry plans.

Please take a moment to review their summer office hours – I know they are looking forward to hearing from as many people as possible!
