Congratulations to Senior Loyd Waites

Core Value Student Achievement:

Congratulations to senior Loyd Waites for receiving an Intel Science Talent Search Report Badge.

The Intel STS is a national Science competition that recognizes pre-college scientific research merit. Loyd received this recognition for his research report that he sent to the Intel National Science Competition in November. He was recognized for “…an exceptionally well-written, college-level report covering his research" that he did for his Authentic Science Research internship this past summer. Loyd completed his ASR internship at the Harvard Center for Astrophysics under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Garcia, investigating the supper-massive black hole at the center of the Andromeda galaxy (which is the Milky Way’s closest neighboring galaxy).

Thanks to Maria Burgess for her efforts in developing the ASR program and for sharing the good news with the staff!
