Sounds of the Season

Last night the sounds of the season filled the auditorium as the MERHS Band, Chorus and Soundwaves performed its annual Winter Concert.  Displays of student artwork lined the hallways, and Caroline Epp welcomed this year’s inductees in into  National Art Honor Society.  It was a wonderful evening, and it was a nice way to honor the musical and artistic achievements of our students and the work of our gifted staff in developing this young talent.

At MERSD, we take pride in showcasing the talent of all of our students, from the classroom to the athletic fields to the concert halls.  Last evening's events provided clear evidence as to the importance of the performing and creative arts in the education of the whole child.

Please see the link below, courtesy of Principal Raucci, which highlights the importance of arts education in the development of creative thinking, a key standard in both the Whole Child Initiative and the 21st Century Skills framework.
